Support manufacturing

Work with manufacturing engineers and workshop technicians to ensure that components can be manufactured and assembled easily and reliably

Proficiency levels

Level Description
Practitioner
  • Can explain common manufacturing and assembly processes including traditional methods (e.g. CNC machining, milling, turning, drilling) and modern techniques (e.g. additive manufacturing, automated assembly).
  • Can identify potential manufacturing and assembly issues, such as tolerance mismatches, excessive complexity, poor material machinability, or challenging geometries, and propose solutions to address them.
  • Can communicate with manufacturing engineers and workshop technicians to ensure components can be manufactured and assembled according to specifications.
  • Can interpret and apply industry manufacturing standards and guidelines (e.g. ECSS, ISO 9001, AS9100).
